Product description

SILISIL RTV CT-BodyThixo 22 is a thixotropic, addition-curing 2-component silicone (platinum-catalyzed) for body casting and brush-on impressions on the skin. After mixing, a paste-like, stable mass is formed, which cures at room temperature to a soft, elastic silicone rubber (Shore A 22) with high detail accuracy, good dimensional stability, and robust mechanical properties. The thixotropic setting allows it to be applied to vertical surfaces without running. The hardened material can be used at temperatures ranging from approx. −40 °C to +200 °C. (Skin-compatible for impressions; not a medical device.)

product features

  • 2K system / mixing ratio: 1:1 (by weight); small deviations are generally not critical – however, an exact 1:1 ratio is recommended.
  • Vulcanization: Room temperature (no heat required).
  • Processing time (23 °C): approx. 10 minutes.
  • Curing time (23 °C): approx. 25 minutes until demoldable.
  • Hardness: Shore A 22 (after 24 hours).
  • Mechanical properties (typical): Tensile strength ~2.5 N/mm², elongation at break ~360%, tear resistance (Die B) ~14 N/mm.
  • Density (mixed, 23 °C): ~1.14 g/cm³; Color: pink.
  • Viscosity (ready for processing): paste-like, thixotropic (usually > 50,000 mPa·s).
  • Temperature range (cured): approx. −40 °C … +200 °C.
  • Shelf life: 12 months at 5–27 °C (batch label applies).

Suitable materials

  • Body/life casting: face, hands, feet; partial/full impressions (brush-on)
  • Substrates in the impression area such as skin, textiles, plastics, or metals (clean, grease-free)
  • Support molds/backings (e.g., plaster or resin shells) for increased dimensional stability

Typical areas of application

  • Special effects (film/theater/cosplay), mask and prosthetic construction (artistic)
  • Fast, vertical impressions with high detail reproduction
  • Model and mold making, where soft, flexible molds are required

Processing instructions

  • Homogenizing & weighing: Briefly stir the base and catalyst components, measure out exactly 1:1 (by weight); only combine identical batches.
  • Mixing: Mix thoroughly; work in the edges and bottom of the mixing container until the color and consistency are homogeneous. Keep tools/surfaces clean and free of grease.
  • Ventilation/application: Process quickly within the pot life; apply thixotropically ("brush-on").
  • Avoid inhibitors: Vaseline oil and other substances can inhibit cross-linking → always test material compatibility in advance.
  • Temperatur beachten: > 23 °Ckürzere Topf-/Aushärtezeit; < 23 °Clängere Zeiten.
  • Post-processing: Demolding after reaching the set time; final values after ~ 24 hours.
  • Packaging units: 1 kg + 1 kg, 5 kg + 5 kg, 25 kg + 25 kg.
