Permabond® 940 – Low-odor, efflorescence-free instant adhesive for visually demanding applications
Permabond® 940 is a low-odor, non-blooming cyanoacrylate adhesive based on alkoxyethyl, which has been specially developed for applications where working comfort and appearance are paramount. Thanks to its innovative formulation, it does not leave any white residue ("blooming"), making the adhesive ideal for dark or visible surfaces.
In addition to its aesthetic qualities, Permabond® 940 offers fast curing, high strength, and broad material compatibility. It is suitable for metals as well as many plastics and rubbers, providing reliable bonds in seconds—without mixing or heat curing.
product features
- Low odor – improves working comfort
- Non-blooming – for visually clean bonding
- Very fast curing (2–40 seconds depending on substrate)
- Gap filling capacity up to 0.05 mm
- Shear strength up to 20 N/mm² (steel)
- Hardness: 85 Shore D
- Dielectric strength: 25 kV/mm
- Good chemical resistance (water, oil, gasoline, alcohols)
- Temperature resistant from –55 °C to briefly over 120 °C
- 100% reactive and solvent-free
Suitable materials
- Metals: steel, aluminum, zinc
- Plastics: ABS, PVC, polycarbonate
- Elastomers: Neoprene, NBR
- phenolic resins
Typical areas of application
- Electronics and equipment manufacturing
- Visible bonding (e.g., dark materials)
- Model and prototype construction
- Household and consumer goods manufacturing
- Precision components in industry and trade
Processing instructions
- Clean and degrease the bonding surfaces (e.g., with Permabond Cleaner A) and roughen them slightly if necessary.
- Apply a small drop of adhesive—a thin layer is sufficient.
- Fit the parts together precisely and press down briefly.
- Do not move during curing (a few seconds).
- Remove excess adhesive with Permabond CA Solvent.
- For porous or difficult substrates: Use Permabond CSA Activator.
- For polyolefins (PP, PE, PTFE, silicone): Pre-treatment with POP primer is necessary.
- Store in a cool place (2–7 °C) and bring to room temperature before use.
