Permabond® 920 – High-temperature resistant instant adhesive for metal, plastic, and rubber

Permabond® 920 is a fast-curing, solvent-free allyl-based cyanoacrylate adhesive that has been specially developed for bonding applications that must withstand high thermal loads. Compared to conventional cyanoacrylates, it exhibits superior temperature stability even at room temperature. An optional post-curing process can increase the temperature resistance to up to 250°C—a decisive advantage in high-temperature processes such as bake painting or wave soldering.

With a viscosity of 80 mPa·s, the adhesive can be applied with precision and achieves very high strength on metal, various plastics, and elastomers. The combination of fast curing, broad adhesion spectrum, and thermal resistance makes Permabond® 920 the ideal choice for industrial applications.

product features

  • High temperature resistance up to 250°C (after thermal post-curing)
  • Fast curing: Handleable in 10–20 seconds

Suitable materials

  • Metals: steel, aluminum, zinc
  • Plastics: ABS, PVC, polycarbonate
  • Elastomers: Buna-N, rubber
  • phenolic resins

Typical areas of application

  • high-temperature assemblies
  • Electronics manufacturing, sensor technology
  • automotive industry
  • Equipment and machine construction
  • Soldering processes, baked enamel coatings
  • Bonding of heat-stressed components

Processing instructions

  1. Thoroughly clean and degrease surfaces (e.g., with Permabond Cleaner A), lightly sand if necessary.
  2. Apply the adhesive thinly and selectively—one drop is usually sufficient.
  3. Fit the parts together precisely and fix them in place briefly.
  4. Curing takes place in a few seconds, full strength after 24 hours.
  5. For high-temperature resistance:
    – Fix parts for 4 hours at room temperature
    – Then temper for 2 hours at 150°C
  6. Remove excess adhesive with Permabond CA Solvent.
  7. Use CSA Activator for difficult or porous substrates.
  8. For PP, PE, PTFE, silicone: Pre-treatment with POP primer is necessary.
