Permabond® 2050 – Flexible cyanoacrylate instant adhesive for high-strength, impact-resistant bonds

Permabond® 2050 is a unique cyanoacrylate adhesive with a flexible formula and reinforced structure for maximum resilience under dynamic loads. Its thixotropic consistency allows for easy, drip-free application, even on vertical or irregular surfaces. Particularly noteworthy is its high peel and impact resistance, which makes it ideal for applications involving vibration, impact, or thermal expansion differences—such as when bonding different materials. Whether rubber, plastic, metal, or even difficult-to-bond materials such as silicone (in combination with Permabond POP Primer), Permabond® 2050 ensures durable, reliable bonds—even under difficult conditions.

product features

  • Thixotropic gel – no running, ideal for vertical surfaces
  • Flexible and impact-resistant – high peel and vibration resistance
  • Fast curing: Hand-tight in 5–15 seconds
  • Suitable for dissimilar materials and thermal cycling
  • Solvent-free, 100% reactive
  • Resistant to water, oil, ethanol, isopropanol
  • Temperature resistant from -55°C to over 100°C (for short periods)
  • Electrically insulating, high dielectric strength (25 kV/mm)

Suitable materials

  • Metals (e.g., steel, aluminum, copper)
  • Plastics (ABS, PVC, PC)
  • Rubber (e.g., Buna N)
  • Silicone, polyethylene, polypropylene (with primer)
  • Ceramics, wood, textiles, other flexible or semi-porous materials

Typical areas of application

  • Automotive and transportation technology
  • Electronics manufacturing with vibration-prone components
  • Household appliances and plastic housings
  • Sports equipment and consumer goods
  • Assembly and repair work in changing temperatures
  • Applications with thermal shock loads

Processing instructions

  1. Clean and degrease the bonding surfaces, e.g., with Permabond Cleaner A.
  2. Lightly sand oxidized metal surfaces.
  3. Apply adhesive sparingly to one surface, join components directly and align.
  4. Hold until initial set (a few seconds).
  5. Remove excess adhesive with Permabond CA solvent .
  6. For difficult materials, use Permabond CSA Activator or POP Primer.
  7. Store at 2–7°C; bring to room temperature before use.
