Product description:

BONDERITE S-AD 1246 is a specially stabilized activator designed for pretreating surfaces to significantly improve the adhesion of silane-modified, single-component adhesives and sealants. The water-based solution contains a special polymer structure that enables effective activation without the use of silicones or aggressive solvents.

After application, a thin, even activator film forms, promoting short curing times while optimizing long-term adhesion. The aqueous formulation is user-friendly, harmless to health, and supports clean processes without unpleasant odors or residues.

Suitable materials:

  • Metals (steel, aluminum, and alloys)

  • Plastics (PC/ABS, ABS, PVC, coated films)

  • Painted & powder-coated surfaces

Typical areas of application:

  • Preactivation prior to application of reactive MS polymer, hybrid, and silane adhesives/sealants

  • Assembly and manufacturing processes in automotive, caravan, and commercial vehicle construction

  • Window and door installation (PVC/aluminum prefabricated parts)

  • Industrial production lines with single-component product systems

  • Repair and maintenance of coated car bodies and attachments

Processing instructions:

  1. Clean the surface (degrease, dry)

  2. Apply the activator thinly and evenly (e.g., spray, roll, dab).

  3. Allow to air dry for 1–3 minutes (depending on substrate and temperature).

  4. Apply adhesive within 1–30 minutes

  5. Use gloves and appropriate protective equipment.

  6. Do not apply to cleaned, damp, or heavily oxidized surfaces.

Storage and shelf life:

  • Store at 5–25°C, frost-free

  • Always keep the original container closed.

  • Best before: 12 months from date of manufacture
