product benefits

  • Excellent lubricating and wetting properties
  • Water-repellent with low surface energy
  • Wide temperature stability — trouble-free cold start
  • Excellent dielectric properties (electrical insulator)
  • Chemically inert to most substances
  • Low volatility combined with high mobility
  • Poses no environmental or occupational health risks

Typical Applications by Industry

  • Elastomer and Plastics Processing: Lubrication of rubber and plastic parts in contact with metal (seals, plain bearings)
  • Hydraulics: Low-temperature hydraulic fluid for laboratory equipment, mobile systems, and precision drives
  • Electrical Engineering: Dielectric Media in Capacitors, Transformers, and Switchgear
  • Rubber and Plastics Industry: External Release Agents for Injection Molding, Compression Molding, and Extrusion
  • Foam Production: Surfactant Components in Styrene-Butadiene Foam Systems
  • General Industry: Defoaming agent, internal lubricant, surface additive

Processing and Compatibility

  • Compatible with most organic solvents (aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons, ethers, esters)
  • Emulsifiable using standard emulsifiers and techniques (rotor-stator, high-pressure homogenization)
  • Typical dosage as a surface additive: 0.1–1%
  • In formulated or cosmetic products: 1–10%, depending on the formulation
  • Inmiscible with water and highly polar solvents (methanol, glycerin)

Storage, Handling, and Shelf Life

  • Store in original containers, in a dry place, protected from direct sunlight, at temperatures below 60 °C
  • Unopened products typically remain stable for years—the exact shelf life is specified in the TDS
  • Close tightly after opening to prevent moisture from entering
  • Avoid eye contact — mandatory information in the safety data sheet (SDS)

Available sizes

  • 1 kg bottle (sample bottle)
  • 5-kg canister
  • 25-kg canister
  • 200-kg drum
  • 1,000 kg IBC (upon request)

Frequently Asked Questions About SILISIL Silicone Oil 10 cSt

The most important answers regarding applications, features, and availability.

SILISIL Silicone Oil 10 cSt is a low-viscosity polydimethylsiloxane and is particularly suitable for lubricating elastomer and plastic parts, hydraulic systems at low temperatures, dielectric insulation in electrical engineering, and as a release agent in rubber and plastics processing.

The distinctive feature of SILISIL Silicone Oil 10 cSt is its combination of high lubricity, excellent dielectric properties, and a wide operating temperature range. In electrical engineering, low-viscosity PDMS oils often replace mineral insulating oils because they are more thermally stable and chemically inert. The exact specifications—in particular viscosity (10 cSt), density (0.93 g/cm³), flash point (162 °C), and pour point (-65 °C)—are also listed as product attributes and can be filtered in the shop.

Yes. SILISIL Silicone Oil 10 cSt is an excellent electrical insulator with a dielectric strength of approximately 14 kV/mm, a dielectric constant of approximately 2.6, and a specific volume resistivity in the order of 10¹⁵ Ω·cm. This makes the product particularly suitable for dielectric and electronic impregnation applications.

SILISIL Silicone Oil 10 cSt is typically available from our Swiss warehouse in 1 kg, 5 kg, 25 kg, 200 kg, and 1000 kg sizes. Other sizes and packaging options are available upon request to meet customer specifications—we provide a free sample for preliminary testing.
