SILISIL Retarder A is a liquid additive designed to extend the pot life and cure time of platinum-curing two-component silicone systems from the SILISIL range. The additive is mixed into the A-component in small doses and delays the reaction kinetics without compromising the final properties of the cured silicone.
The retarder is particularly suitable for larger casting volumes or molds with complex geometries that are difficult to access, where more processing time is required.

Application and Dosage

Answers regarding dosage and use.
The extension depends on the dosage. At 0.5–1%, the pot life is typically extended by a factor of 1.5 to 3, depending on the base system. Please refer to the TDS for exact values and conduct preliminary tests.
When used at the correct dosage (less than 2%), Shore hardness and mechanical properties are largely maintained. At higher dosages, cross-linking may remain incomplete.
SILISIL Retarder A is approved for use with all platinum-curing two-component silicones in the SILISIL range. It has no effect on condensation silicones (tin-curing).
First, mix the retarder into Component A and distribute it evenly. Only then should Component B be added. This prevents premature curing.
