SILISIL DEADNER – Additive for softening RTV silicones for special effects

SILISIL DEADNER is a high-quality additive for modifying platinum-based RTV-2 silicone rubbers. It has been specially developed for use in combination with products such as SILISIL SILSKIN-10 to specifically reduce Shore hardness and create a skin-like, gel-like feel. The deadner is ideal for creating realistic special effects, mask parts, and flexible prosthetics in the SFX, film, and prop industries.

Typical areas of application

• Production of realistic skin replicas for SFX & mask making
• Flexible silicone inserts for props and animatronics
• Soft liners, wound simulations, skin defects, or "burnt skin" effects
• Replicas with organic texture in medical model making

Processing instructions

• Add directly to the silicone base component before curing.
• Recommended addition amount:
  – 10% for slight softening
  – 20–30% for very soft, skin-like effects
  – >30% for strongly gel-like, sticky structures (testing required)
• After adding, mix thoroughly and only then add the crosslinker.
• Vacuum degassing recommended for best results

Not recommended for:

• RTV silicones based on tin
• Applications requiring high tear resistance
• Structural or load-bearing components

• Store in tightly sealed original containers.
• Recommended storage temperature: 10–25°C
• Protect from frost, direct sunlight, and moisture.
• Best before: 12 months from date of manufacture
