Silbione RTV 4410 1:1 QC A&B — biocompatible two-component silicone elastomer

Silbione RTV 4410 1:1 QC A&B is an addition-curing, platinum-catalyzed two-component silicone elastomer from Elkem Silicones that cures at room temperature via a polyaddition reaction. The two low-viscosity components are mixed in a 1:1 ratio (by weight) and cure without heat generation to form a highly elastic, skin-friendly elastomer.

Note: Component A (translucent, Pt catalyst) and Component B SKIN (skin-colored, SiH crosslinker) are supplied in pairs in the kit and must always be mixed together in a 1:1 ratio by weight.

product benefits

  • Very high elongation at break (approx. 780%) with a Shore A hardness of 11 — soft and gentle on the skin
  • Biocompatible and sterilizable — approved for medical and pharmaceutical applications
  • Low viscosity (~1500 mPa·s) for easy, low-bubble application
  • Curing without heat generation and without decomposition products
  • Curing at room temperature or accelerated by heat
  • High tear resistance (approx. 14 N/mm) despite a soft setting

Examples of use

  • Liners for arm and leg prostheses
  • Heel cushions and pressure-relieving soft pads
  • Toe separators and small orthopedic components
  • Custom orthotics and rehabilitation components
  • Skin-friendly soft silicone molded parts for medical applications

Processing instructions

  1. Stir both components thoroughly before each use (they may settle).
  2. Weigh A and B in an exact 1:1 ratio by weight and mix thoroughly to minimize air bubbles—using a hand mixer, low-speed mixer, or dosing machine.
  3. Degas the mixture at 30–50 mbar; it will expand to 3–4 times its original volume, bubbles will rise, and then release the vacuum.
  4. 1–2× pressure relief accelerates degassing. Use containers with a high diameter-to-height ratio.
  5. Apply by pouring (gravity or low-pressure); cure slowly at 23 °C or accelerate curing at 80 °C.

Cross-linking inhibitors — avoid

Contact with the following materials may prevent or delay curing:

  • Sulfur-vulcanized natural rubber
  • Tin-catalyzed RTV-2 silicone elastomers
  • Tin-stabilized PVC
  • Amine-catalyzed epoxy resins

If in doubt, test with a small sample on a limited area of the substrate.

Regulatory and Biocompatibility

SILBIONE® RTV 4410 1:1 QC A and B SKIN have undergone extensive toxicological testing and meet regulatory requirements for medical and pharmaceutical applications in several countries. Detailed certificates and country-specific approvals are available upon request.

Storage and shelf life

Store in unopened original packaging at temperatures between -10 °C and +30 °C. Shelf life: 6 months from the date of manufacture (both components). After this period, the manufacturer no longer guarantees compliance with specifications.

Frequently Asked Questions About Silbione RTV 4410

Elkem's Medical-Grade 2K Silicone — Biocompatibility, Processing, and Typical Applications.

Silbione RTV 4410 1:1 QC A&B is a biocompatible two-component silicone designed for soft medical applications: liners for arm and leg prostheses, heel cushions, toe separators, and soft orthopedic padding. The combination of a Shore A hardness of 11 and 780% elongation at break makes it particularly skin-friendly.

Yes. Silbione RTV 4410 1:1 QC A&B has undergone comprehensive toxicological testing by Elkem Silicones and meets regulatory requirements for medical and pharmaceutical applications in several countries. The cured elastomer is sterilizable.

Silbione RTV 4410 1:1 QC A&B achieves, after curing (60 min at 80 °C), a Shore A hardness of approx. 11, a tensile strength of approx. 3.6 N/mm², an elongation at break of approx. 780%, and a tear resistance of approx. 14 N/mm according to DIN 53504/53505/53515.

Silbione RTV 4410 1:1 QC A&B has a pot life of approximately 10 minutes at 23 °C. The recommended curing time is 60 minutes at 80 °C; curing is also possible at room temperature, but proceeds more slowly. Heat accelerates the process, while cold slows it down.
