SILBIONE CAF 72589 – Food-safe non-stick coating for bottle corks
SILBIONE CAF 72589 is a single-component, solvent-free silicone elastomer that cures at room temperature through exposure to air humidity. It has been specially developed to apply an even, thin layer to natural and agglomerated corks and provides excellent non-stick and lubricating properties for cork closures without affecting the taste or smell of the liquids it comes into contact with.
Special features
- Solvent-free and odorless: Offers safe application and minimizes environmental impact.
- Food contact compliant: Meets the requirements for materials that come into direct contact with food.
- Optimal lubrication and tightness: Provides an excellent seal after closure, which is particularly advantageous for wine and champagne corks.
- Thin-layer application without dilution: The specially developed formula enables an even, extremely thin coating layer.
- Excellent durability: Long-lasting mechanical properties that ensure lasting functionality.
Typical applications
- Coating of natural and agglomerated corks: Ideal for wine and champagne corks to enable liquid-tight and easy-to-remove closures.
- Food packaging: Suitable for materials and surfaces that come into contact with food and require a non-stick effect.
Processing and application instructions:
Coating is best done in a horizontally rotating drum. Corks should first be cleaned of dust, then SILBIONE CAF 72589 is applied manually or by spraying. The recommended dosage is 180 to 270 g per 10,000 corks. The corks should be stored for at least 24 hours at 20-25 °C and approx. 50% humidity before use.
