Permabond® 947 – Low-odor, non-blooming cyanoacrylate adhesive
Permabond® 947 is a modern, low-odor cyanoacrylate adhesive based on alkoxyethyl cyanoacrylate. Its special formulation offers significantly improved working comfort, even in areas with limited ventilation. A particular advantage is the so-called "non-blooming effect": it prevents unsightly white edges or deposits on the surface. This makes Permabond® 947 particularly suitable for visually demanding bonding applications, for example on dark or shiny materials.
Thanks to its high reactivity, Permabond® 947 cures very quickly at room temperature and reaches hand strength in just a few seconds. It is solvent-free, 100% reactive, and requires no mixing or heat application, making it easy and efficient to use.
product features
- Low odor – significantly improved working comfort
- Non-efflorescent – clean appearance without white edges
- Easy to use – no mixing or tempering required
- Very fast curing (2–40 seconds depending on the material)
- Gap filling capacity up to 0.25 mm
-
High shear strength:
- Steel: 16–20 N/mm²
- Aluminum: 8–9 N/mm²
- Zinc: 8 N/mm²
- ABS: >6 N/mm² (substrate failure)
- PC: >5 N/mm² (substrate failure)
- Temperature resistance: -55 °C to +80 °C, briefly higher
- Electrical properties: Dielectric strength 25 kV/mm, dielectric constant 3 (1 MHz)
- Hardness: 85 Shore D
Suitable materials
- Metals (steel, aluminum, zinc)
- Plastics (ABS, PC, phenolic, PVC)
- Rubber (neoprene, NBR)
- Dark or visually demanding surfaces
- With pretreatment (POP primer): Polyolefins such as PP, PE, PTFE, silicone
Typical areas of application
- Electronics and electrical engineering (clean and precise bonding)
- Medical technology and laboratory equipment (thanks to low odor)
- Consumer goods and household products with high visual requirements
- Automotive and transportation industry
- Assembly of components with fast cycle times
Processing instructions
- Clean and degrease surfaces, e.g., with Permabond Cleaner A.
- If necessary, lightly sand off oxide layers from metals.
- Apply a thin drop of adhesive to a surface.
- Immediately fit the parts together precisely and apply light pressure.
- Remove excess adhesive with Permabond CA solvent.
- For difficult or porous substrates, use Permabond CSA Activator .
- For polyolefins, PTFE, or silicone, first apply Permabond POP Primer .
Storage: Store at 2–7 °C. Bring to room temperature before use to prevent condensation.
