Permabond® 4C40 – High-performance medical adhesive for large gaps and difficult materials

Permabond® 4C40 is a medium to high viscosity single-component adhesive that has been specially developed for applications with larger gaps and for substrates that are difficult to bond, such as polyacetals and passivated metals. Thanks to its fast curing and universal applicability, it is ideal for industrial series production as well as for applications in medical technology. The Biocompatibility according to ISO 10993-5 and USP Class VI makes it ideal for disposable medical products and devices.

product features

  • Medically certified (ISO 10993-5, USP Class VI)
  • High viscosity (1200–2400 mPa.s) – ideal for gap filling up to 0.43 mm
  • Very fast curing (5–10 seconds)
  • Can be used universally on metals, plastics, elastomers, and ceramics
  • Particularly suitable for polyacetals and passivated metals
  • Temperature resistant down to -55 °C and briefly >100 °C
  • 100% reactive and solvent-free
  • Good impact resistance (3–5 kJ/m²)

Suitable materials

  • Metals (steel, aluminum, zinc, passivated surfaces)
  • Plastics such as ABS, PVC, polyacetal
  • Rubber, elastomers
  • ceramics

Typical areas of application

  • Disposable medical products and devices
  • Bonding of components with fitting tolerances
  • Universal industrial adhesive applications
  • Electronics and plastics assembly

Processing instructions

  • Clean the surfaces to be joined and roughen them slightly if necessary.
  • Apply adhesive sparingly to one side
  • Align and press parts together, do not move them.
  • Fixing time: 5–10 seconds, full strength after 24 hours
  • For difficult substrates, use Permabond CSA or POP.
  • Store at 2–7 °C; bring to room temperature before use.
