Permabond® 130UV – Dual-cure cyanoacrylate adhesive with UV curing

Permabond® 130UV is an innovative, low-viscosity cyanoacrylate adhesive with a dual curing mechanism: UV light and/or air humidity. It was specially developed for applications requiring fast adhesion, minimal outgassing (blooming), and transparent adhesive films—even in shaded areas where UV light cannot fully penetrate.

product features

  • UV and moisture curing (dual cure)
  • Fluorescent under UV light for quality control
  • Härtet in <1 Sekunde bei LED-UV (405 nm)
  • Reduced odor & minimal white bloom
  • Transparent with a thin adhesive layer
  • Excellent adhesion to metals and plastics
  • Biocompatible according to ISO 10993-5
  • Solvent-free, low hazard classification

Suitable materials

  • Plastics: ABS, PC, PVC, PMMA, PETG, nylon (PA6)
  • Rubber: NBR, EPDM
  • Metals: stainless steel, aluminum, steel
  • Also suitable for difficult substrates (with primer if necessary)

Typical areas of application

  • Bonding transparent components (e.g., displays, PMMA, PC)
  • Bonding of components with shadow zones
  • Micro-dosed precision bonding
  • Applications with optical requirements (tack-free surface)
  • Medical components (biocompatible*)

Processing instructions

  1. Clean the surface (e.g., with isopropanol or Permabond Cleaner A).
  2. Apply adhesive thinly to a surface (manually or automatically)
  3. Align and assemble parts precisely – avoid air pockets
  4. Apply pressure to achieve even distribution
  5. Curing:
    • UV light: ≤1 s at 150 mW/cm² (405 nm)
    • Humidity: typically 3–30 seconds, depending on the material
  6. For optimal results: Combination of both curing methods
  7. Areas that are not UV-permeable retain residual strength through moisture curing.

Special advantages

  • No white blooming (compared to classic CA adhesives)
  • Open time allows for precise alignment before UV activation
  • UV detection for automated production control
  • Good chemical resistance to water, ethanol, motor oil

storage

  • Storage temperature: 2–7°C
  • Protect from light – light-sensitive
  • Bring to room temperature before use.

*Note: Permabond® 130UV meets the requirements of ISO 10993-5 (cytotoxicity), making it suitable for many medical applications. The user must verify its suitability based on specific requirements.
