Permabond® 105 – Cyanoacrylate adhesive for demanding rubber and plastic bonding applications
Permabond® 105 is a single-component, low-viscosity cyanoacrylate adhesive with particularly high purity. It was specially developed for materials that are difficult to bond, such as natural rubber, butyl rubber, and EPDM. It also offers excellent adhesion and short curing times for many plastics and metals—ideal for industrial processes with high demands on speed and precision.
product features
- Low viscosity (30–50 mPa·s) for finely controllable application
- Fast curing: 5–15 seconds (depending on substrate)
- High shear strength (e.g., steel: 18–22 N/mm²)
- Good heat resistance (up to +120°C)
- Ideal for types of rubber that are difficult to bond
- 100% reactive, solvent-free
-
Compliant with MIL-A-46050C Type II Class 1
Suitable materials
- Natural and synthetic rubber (e.g., EPDM, Buna-N, butyl)
- Plastics: ABS, PVC, PC, phenolic resins
- Metals: steel, aluminum, zinc
-
For PE, PP, PTFE & silicone, only suitable with primer (POP)
Typical areas of application
- Bonding elastomeric components in production
- Applications requiring high dosing precision
- Bonding of seals and molded rubber parts
-
Electronics and plastics processing with narrow gap width
Processing instructions
- Clean and degrease the surface (e.g., with Permabond Cleaner A).
- Apply a thin layer of adhesive to the surface (1 drop is usually sufficient).
- Press parts together precisely; even pressure distributes the adhesive evenly.
- Do not move during curing (only seconds)
- Remove residue with Permabond CA Solvent 2
-
For porous or critical surfaces, use Permabond CSA or POP Primer.
Temperature and chemical resistance
- Temperature range: –55°C to +120°C
- Good resistance to water, isopropanol, ethanol, motor oil, unleaded gasoline
- Short-term temperature exposure above 120°C is also possible (e.g., soldering processes)
storage
- Recommended storage temperature: 2–7°C
- Bring to room temperature before use
- Protect from sunlight and moisture
- Prevent condensation
