LOCTITE SF 7701 – Primer for polyolefins and difficult-to-bond plastics

LOC TITE SF 7701 is a colorless, solvent-based primer specially developed to permanently bond low surface energy materials such as polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), PTFE (Teflon), and thermoplastic elastomers.

This product is often used where conventional instant adhesives do not provide sufficient adhesion—e.g., in medical technology, electronics assembly, plastics processing, or when assembling components made of PE or PP.

Areas of application

  • Polyolefin bonding: Enables reliable bonding of polypropylene, polyethylene, PTFE, and many other materials.
  • Medical devices: Tested according to ISO 10993 – suitable for many disposable medical products
  • Electronics & precision engineering: Ideal for components with small bonding areas and high speeds
  • Quality assurance: Fluoresces under UV light for easy visual inspection

Advantages at a glance

  • Improves the adhesion of LOCTITE CA adhesives on difficult-to-bond plastics
  • Very thin consistency, dries in approx. 30 seconds
  • Up to 8 hours active on prepared surfaces
  • No effect on biocompatibility when used as intended (ISO 10993 compliant)
  • Universally applicable by spraying, brushing, or dipping
  • Also effective as a curing accelerator – reduces fixing time to less than 5 seconds
