Product description for CAF® 4
CAF 4 is a single-component, self-leveling silicone elastomer that cures at room temperature. It is characterized by fast cross-linking, excellent mechanical properties, and high temperature resistance. With a maximum continuous temperature resistance of up to 250°C, CAF 4 is ideal for applications exposed to thermal stress.
Special features:
- Fast curing: Forms a skin within 10 minutes and cures completely in 5 hours with a layer thickness of 2 mm.
- Excellent mechanical properties: Offers a tensile strength of 3.8 MPa and an elongation at break of 200%.
- High temperature resistance: Permanent resistance up to 250°C, short-term resistance up to 300°C.
- Good dielectric properties: Suitable for electrical insulation.
- Chemical resistance: Resistant to oils, antifreeze, and other aggressive substances.
Applications
- Aviation: Bonding of plastics and general sealing applications.
- Electrical insulation: Protection and insulation of electrical components.
- Thermal protection: Coating of fabrics for thermal insulation.
- Conveyor technology: Coating of conveyor belts to extend their service life.
processing
CAF 4 is supplied ready for use and can be applied manually or with automated application equipment. It cures within 5 hours at a layer thickness of 2 mm. It should be applied to clean and dry surfaces, and assembly must take place before skin formation. Stress should be avoided until the product has completely cured.
