BONDERITE L-CA HKKS – High-purity graphite release agent for aluminum casting molds
BONDERITE L-CA HKKS ACHESON (formerly known as HYDROKOLLAG MOLD RELEASE AGENT) is a high-performance water-based graphite dispersion specially developed for use as a release agent in gravity and low-pressure casting of aluminum and other non-ferrous metals. The fine, semi-colloidal structure of the graphite used ensures an even, high-coverage coating that not only enables the castings to be separated safely, but also effectively protects the underlying insulation layers.
Its high temperature resistance and excellent release properties make BONDERITE L-CA HKKS an economical solution for foundry applications where reproducibility and surface quality are crucial. Thanks to its emission-free formulation, it produces pore-free castings without any adverse effects from outgassing components.
product features
- High-purity graphite dispersion in water
- Excellent coverage and temperature resistance
- Excellent separating effect, even with complex geometries
- Emission-free – for non-porous, flawless castings
- Economical thanks to low consumption
- Homogeneous, black-gray, highly viscous liquid
- Solid content: approx. 21.5%
- Easy to use by dipping, spraying, or brushing
Suitable materials
- aluminum
- Other non-ferrous metals
Typical areas of application
- gravity casting
- low-pressure casting
- Coating of molds with insulation primers from the BONDERITE L-CA CG series
Processing instructions
BONDERITE L-CA HKKS is supplied as a concentrate and diluted with soft or demineralized water before use (recommended dilution ratio: 1:5 to 1:50). The diluted solution should be homogenized before and during use. Ammonia is recommended for adjusting the pH value to 8–9. Ideally, the product should be applied by dipping, spraying, or brushing. For optimal results, a thin film should be applied after each casting; a thicker layer can also be used for series production with less complex geometries.
Storage and shelf life
- Store in a cool, frost-free place.
- Original sealed package has a shelf life of 24 months.
- Shake or stir well before use.
