product features
- Dual curing: UV light (365 nm), heat, or both – very high flexibility in the process
- Cationic epoxy mechanism: Curing continues even after removal of the UV source – ideal for shaded areas
- Single-component, 100% solids-based – no solvents, no mixing required
- Low shrinkage, tack-free surface, reduced odor → no dust adhesion
- Excellent chemical and thermal resistance – durable connection even under demanding environmental conditions
- Wide range of material compatibility: plastics, metals, glass, composite materials
Suitable materials & applications
| industry | Typical applications |
|---|---|
| electronics | Bonding of SMD components on printed circuit boards, glob top encapsulation (chip encapsulation) |
| automotive | Sensor sealing, lens bonding (e.g., camera lenses), encapsulation of glass-filled PBT/PBT-PC |
| General | Precision processes with dust prevention – thanks to tack-free surface and low shrinkage |
Processing instructions
- Application: Apply to one of the two surfaces to be bonded using a dispenser (no mixing required).
- Alignment: Position parts, as curing takes place slowly (UV flash + heat as an option).
- Curing: Use UV light (365 nm); then apply heat for complete polymerization – ideal for concealed areas.
- Cleaning: Remove any excess with a suitable solvent if necessary.
- Curing time & handling: Surface remains tack-free – ideal for dust-sensitive applications and further processing.
Temperature and environmental resistance
- Thermal stability: Excellent resistance even at elevated temperatures
- Environmental and chemical resistance: Robust against moisture, oils, and temperature fluctuations—ideal for industrial applications
Conclusion
Permabond® UV 7220 combines the advantages of UV and heat curing with outstanding performance in demanding applications. Thanks to cationic epoxy technology, the product is particularly suitable for precise, clean, and durable bonding in the electronics and automotive industries—a strong all-rounder, even in concealed areas.
