Product description

BONDERITE L-CA 696 ACHESON, also known as Deltacast 696, is a ready-to-use, soft grease formulation with heat-resistant, reflective pigments. Developed for use in light metal foundries, this special product forms a dry, porous, and insulating protective layer when it comes into contact with molten metal. This reduces thermal stress and protects ladles, channels, and all metal contact surfaces from wear and thermal fatigue.

BONDERITE L-CA 696 ACHESON is particularly user-friendly thanks to its ease of application and post-treatment. The coating is durable, easy to remove, and can be repaired locally if necessary. The optimized formulation minimizes hazards during processing and operation. The product contains selected mineral oils as carriers, is not water-soluble, and can be disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner after use.

product features

  • High-temperature-resistant casting spoon coating
  • Reflective pigments for effective metal protection
  • Forms an insulating, porous protective layer
  • Reduces thermal fatigue and mechanical wear
  • Ready to use, no dilution necessary
  • Easy to apply, can also be used cold
  • Local repair possible by reordering
  • Easy to remove, no damage to the substrate surface
  • Reduces health and safety risks during use

Suitable materials

  • Steel and cast iron (e.g., casting spoons, gutters, tools)
  • Metallic contact surfaces in casting processes

Typical areas of application

  • Light metal foundries
  • Aluminum and magnesium processing
  • Protective coating for casting spoons, channels, crucibles, and tools

Processing instructions

  • Thoroughly clean the surfaces to be coated beforehand (e.g., by grit blasting).
  • Optimal: Apply to preheated surfaces (120–150 °C) using a brush.
  • Can also be applied cold, then allow to dry thoroughly before use
  • Initial hardening occurs upon immersion in the molten metal.
  • Coating can be flame-treated or touched up as needed
  • Removable with compressed air or occasionally by blasting
