Product description BONDERITE L-GP 554/20 ACHESON
BONDERITE L-GP 554/20 ACHESON is a smoke-free, water-based lubricant for extrusion and drop forging processes. This colloidal graphite dispersion in water is specifically used for aluminum extrusion, where it is applied to the pressure piece (press punch) to prevent the billet from sticking. Immersing the ram in diluted BONDERITE L-GP 554/20 ACHESON after extrusion forms a graphite film with excellent lubricating and separating properties, which also acts as a coolant.
Special features
- Excellent lubricating and separating properties
- Controllable die temperature by adjusting the dilution ratio
- Rapid wetting and film formation on metal
- Corrosion protection for dies and workpieces
- Smoke- and fume-free application, no toxic effects when in contact with hot metal
Application
- Extrusion of aluminum: Forms an adhesive protective layer that prevents sticking.
- Hot forging and hot pressing: Suitable for unalloyed carbon steels, aluminum, and brass.
Processing instructions
Preliminary remark
Before use, we recommend reading the safety data sheet and complying with the applicable safety regulations.
dilution
BONDERITE L-GP 554/20 ACHESON should be diluted with distilled, soft, or demineralized water before use. Dilution is best achieved by slowly adding water while stirring continuously.
dilution ratio
The dilution depends on the working conditions and the desired degree of cooling. An initial mixing ratio of 1 part BONDERITE L-GP 554/20 ACHESON to 5 to 10 parts water is recommended.
Pre-treatment of dies
For rapid lubricant film formation, the dies should be degreased and preheated to approximately 150 °C.
method of application
The product is ideally sprayed onto the die, for which BONDERITE sprayers are particularly suitable. After running in the die and adjusting the sprayer, further dilution can be tried to achieve optimum economy.
dilution
For extrusion, BONDERITE L-GP 554/20 ACHESON is diluted with water in a ratio of 1:30 to 1:50 before use. Dilution is carried out by slowly adding water while stirring continuously.
Application
The hot pressure pieces are immersed in the diluted product to ensure the necessary cooling and lubricating effect.
