Product description

BLUESIL® RTV 148 A + 147 B is a low-viscosity two-component silicone system that cures at room temperature or under heat to form a flexible, elastic vulcanized product. The combination of RTV 148 A (softer A component) and RTV 147 B (catalyst) results in a material with medium Shore hardness (~40), which is particularly suitable for embedding delicate components, fine castings, or sensitive electronics. Thanks to its good flow properties (approx. 10,000 mPa·s), the mixture is extremely easy to process – even in narrow cavities. Its high temperature resistance (up to +300 °C for short periods), good reversion resistance, and electrical insulation make this system a reliable solution for technology and industry.

product features

  • 2-component system: 100 parts RTV 148 A + 10 parts RTV 147 B

  • Low viscosity: approx. 10,000 mPa·s at 23°C – easy to pour

  • Curing: Room temperature or thermally accelerated

  • Hardness: Shore A approx. 40 – soft and flexible

  • Tensile strength: approx. 3.5 MPa; elongation at break approx. 160%

  • Reversibly temperature-stable: Up to +300°C for short periods

  • Dielectric insulation: Volume resistivity approx. 5 × 10¹⁴ Ω·cm

  • Shrinkage: Practically zero at RT; max. 1.3% at 110°C

  • Embrittlement temperature: approx. –70°C

Suitable materials

  • electronic components

  • Miniature and micro components

  • Sensors, LED elements

  • Materials with temperature-sensitive surfaces

  • Molds with fine details (plastic, plaster, metal)

Typical areas of application

  • Precision electronics encapsulation

  • Flexible housing seals

  • Prototype construction, model technology

  • Device protection in thermal applications

  • Flexible molded parts, e.g., in automotive or equipment manufacturing

  • Optoelectronic components

Processing instructions

  1. Homogenization: Stir RTV 148 A and 147 B before use.

  2. Mixing: 100 parts A + 10 parts B (by weight)

  3. Ventilation: In a vacuum at 30–50 mbar, several cycles recommended

  4. Potting: Bubble-free, ideal for vacuum or gravity potting

  5. Curing:

    • 24–48 hours at room temperature

    • 4 hours at 65°C

    • 1 hour at 100°C

    • 30 min. at 150°C

  6. Adhesion: Improve on smooth materials with Primer PMB 821

  7. Storage: Dry, at –42°F to 86°F, seal airtight

  8. Compatibility: Can be mixed with RTV 147 A to adjust hardness

Packaging and storage

BLUESIL™ RTV 148 A & 147 B is available in 1 kg containers, as well as in larger packages for industrial applications (up to 25 kg for RTV 148 A and 20 kg for RTV 147 B). When stored properly between -5°C and +30°C, the shelf life is 18 months.

BLUESIL™ RTV 148 A & 147 B is the ideal solution for industrial applications that require high temperature resistance and elastic properties.
