Product description

BLUESIL® RTV 141 A is a low-viscosity, colorless, silicone-based liquid that cures together with BLUESIL® RTV 141 B to form a crystal-clear, elastic silicone rubber. The product cross-links through an addition reaction at room temperature and, thanks to its optical transparency, electrical insulation properties, and tear resistance, enables particularly high-quality encapsulations. It is suitable for sensitive electronic components, light-conducting fibers, sensors, and optoelectronic components. Its excellent dielectric properties, low shrinkage, and high temperature resistance make this system the preferred choice in electronics manufacturing and precision engineering.

product features

  • A component for RTV 141 (addition-curing)

  • Liquid, low viscosity (approx. 3500 mPa·s)

  • Color: colorless, crystal clear to slightly cloudy

  • Density: approx. 1.02 g/cm³

  • Mixing ratio with RTV 141 B: 100:10 (by weight)

  • After curing: transparent, elastic, tension-free

  • Temperature resistance: up to +200°C for short periods

  • Embrittlement temperature: approx. –70°C

  • Electrically insulating: Dielectric strength approx. 20 kV/mm

  • Refractive index: approx. 1.406

  • Shrinkage: approx. 0.4–1.2% depending on the type of cross-linking

  • Thermal conductivity: approx. 0.16 W/(m·K)

Suitable partner products

  • BLUESIL® RTV 141 B – matching B component (catalyst)

  • Primer PBM 821 for improving adhesion on critical surfaces

Typical areas of application

  • Embedding and insulation of electronic components

  • Optoelectronics: fiber optics, sensors, LED elements

  • Protective coatings for barrier-layer photocells

  • Technical potting applications in microelectronics

  • Optical molds, index jump coatings

Processing instructions

  1. Homogenize RTV 141 A before processing.

  2. Mixture: 100 parts A + 10 parts B – mix thoroughly

  3. Ventilation in a vacuum (30–50 mbar) recommended

  4. Pouring: slowly, from bottom to top for thick layers

  5. Curing:

    • 24–48 hours at room temperature

    • or accelerated: 4 hours at 60°C, 2 hours at 100°C, 1 hour at 150°C

  6. Optimize adhesion with primer PBM 821 if necessary

  7. Processing under clean conditions – no contact with sulfur, amines, or tin

  8. Store in a cool, airtight container.
