SILBIONE RTV – biocompatible addition-cure silicones for medical applications
SILBIONE® is Elkem’s premium product line of medical-grade silicones. All products in the family undergo extensive toxicological testing and meet the regulatory requirements of several countries: FDA, USP Class VI, ISO 10993 biocompatibility, and various pharmacopoeia standards. This makes SILBIONE the first choice wherever silicone comes into direct or indirect contact with the skin or is used in medical devices.
The curing mechanism is consistently addition-curing (platinum): no byproducts, high chemical purity, and no toxic byproducts during or after curing. All SILBIONE RTV products are sterilizable (autoclave, gamma radiation, ethylene oxide) and can withstand repeated cleaning cycles.
Inhibition Warning
Like all platinum-cured RTVs, SILBIONE products are sensitive to inhibitors. This is particularly important in a medical setting: Latex gloves completely prevent curing— use only vinyl or nitrile gloves without sulfur accelerators! Other inhibitors include sulfur-containing rubbers, amines, tin compounds, and epoxy hardeners.
SILBIONE RTV 4410 1:1 QC in detail
SILBIONE RTV 4410 QC A&B is the quick-cure version of the 4411/4420 medical-grade family—specifically designed for cycle-based production of prosthetic liners, padding, and medical-grade silicone parts. Its faster curing allows for 2–3 cycle changes per hour in mass production.
All medical-grade features of the SILBIONE family are retained:
- Biocompatible according to USP Class VI, ISO 10993, and FDA
- Sterilizable (autoclave, gamma radiation, ethylene oxide)
- 1:1 mixing ratio (easy to measure)
- Low viscosity for easy venting and intricate geometries
Typical applications
- Prosthetic liners – an inner lining between the prosthetic socket and the skin
- Heel Cushions (for shoe inserts and orthopedic devices)
- Toe Separators (for hallux deformities)
- Additional medical-grade silicone parts produced in small batches at a high production rate
SILBIONE RTV 4410 1:1 QC is supplied by SILITECH AG as a complete A&B kit. Technical consultation, batch certificates, and medical-grade documentation are available upon request.
Frequently Asked Questions About SILBIONE RTV 4410 1:1 QC A&B
Answers about Quick-Cure Medical Silicone.
The 4410 is the Quick-Cure version of the 4411 Medical Series—offering faster curing for time-sensitive production. Both versions share the same medical-grade approvals, biocompatibility, and sterilizability.
If you manufacture prosthetic liners, heel pads, or toe spacers in mass production. The faster curing time allows for more cycles per day and reduces the space required for production.
Yes. All SILBIONE silicones undergo the same toxicological testing and meet USP Class VI, ISO 10993, and FDA requirements. The Quick-Cure formulation only alters the kinetics of the cross-linking reaction; it does not change the chemical composition of the cured material.
Mix components A and B in a 1:1 ratio by weight or volume. Mix by hand or with a slow-speed mixer. Use vinyl or nitrile gloves (do not use latex gloves!). If necessary, degas under vacuum before pouring.
